Today I taught.

Before my World Race in 2014, I taught 9th and 10th grade English Literature in Petal, Mississippi. This experience shaped and molded me in ways that, years later, I am just fully understanding. I loved it! I loved my students, I loved my content, I loved my coworkers. I was thriving in a difficult and challenging profession.

Then I quit. And it was hard. I sensed the Holy Spirit working in me, and I wasn’t sure if after returning from the World Race I would go back into the classroom.

But God had more to teach me about teaching! I learned that teaching is a skill, not just a profession. That the act of teaching could supersede the classroom. That I can share my gifting in teaching in different environments with different people. This realization broke open the box that I had subconsciously formed around my job, my future, and what I could offer.

Fast forward three years. I am not in the teaching 9th and 10th graders in the classroom, but today I taught a 2 hour breakout session in a hotel ballroom to 70+ plus people. And I loved it.

God continually blows me away by giving me opportunities use my specifics skills and gifts to further His Kingdom. My teaching today focused on the importance of telling stories of faith. How Jesus told his disciples to not only GO, but to also TELL.

The Ultimate Teacher is always beckoning us into His presence to know Him more. He longs to show us all that His Kingdom here on Earth can be, and how we can partner with Him.

So, today I taught. And it was good.

P.s. As part of my teaching for today, I gave everyone in the room an assignment to write a blog on their individual World Race blog site in under 30 minutes to help debunk the myth that a blog post takes hours and hours to perfect and write and edit and reedit. I took on the challenge myself and wrote while they wrote, and this was what the outcome was.
